Games To Watch:
Class A:
Bonny Eagle vs. Thornton Academy
The Trojans are trying to avoid starting 0-3 while the Scots have a fantastic opportunity in front of them. TA will need to find a way to stop Terrell Edwards of Bonny Eagle who last week in a win went 4-7 with 50 yards passing and one passing touchdown. While on the ground he finished with 21 carries for 219 rushing yards and four rushing touchdowns.
Class B:
Messalonskee vs. Cony
The Eagles of Messolonskee have opened the eyes of many across the state and right now are the team to beat in Class B North. The 2-0 start is their best since going 3-0 to begin the 2016 season, and the team has scored more points and allowed fewer points than any Class B team. The Cony Rams are looking to build off a 22-0 victory over Skowhegan last weekend but will face a different kind of challenge slowing down the Eagles Tatum Doucette.
Class C:
Leavitt vs. York
The York Wildcats are coming off an impressive victory over the Wells Warriors and will look to build off that win by upsetting the heavyweights in Class C South. It won’t be easy knocking off the defending champs though, during the Hornets’ 45-7 victory over the Cape Elizabeth Capers, Noah Carpenter completed all nine of his passes for 201 yards and three touchdowns while rushing for a touchdown. York will have their hands full with last season’s Gatorade Player of the Year.
Class D:
Winthrop/Monmouth/Hall-Dale vs. Wells
The Wells Warriors are looking to bounce back after a tough defeat to the York Wildcats last weekend where the team led at one point by 14-0 before giving up 32 unanswered to lose the contest 32-14. While last week the story for the Ramblers was perseverance. In overtime the Ramblers would take care of business leading to the 53-47 victory over Maine Central Institute. The winner of this Class C South matchup will surely help themselves keep pace with the Poland Knights (2-0) and the Freeport Falcons (2-0) early on in this High School Football season.
8-Man:
Camden Hills vs. Mount Desert Island
8-Man Large North is getting interesting. Camden Hills, Mount Desert Island, and Waterville are all 2-0 after picking up wins Friday night. Now, two of those teams will leave Week 3 with a blemish on their record. Camden Hills last week held the Greely Rangers to –6 yards rushing and cruised to a 28-6 win. Mount Desert Island had an impressive showing with their 44-16 win against Gray-New Gloucester. Who will remain undefeated after Week 3?
